Hi, I'am looking to get my High School Diploma, I found a school called American Academy High School. They state they are a actual school in Florida and will grant a diploma in 90days, is this for real or is it a scam??? it also states its accepted by colleges and the army??. If this is a fake school would you reccomend American School that is DETC accredited and one more thing I would like to earn my Diploma within a year and half.

    Thanks

Florida really recognizes them (In fact, they recognize two Dade County institutions with the same name, one religous and one not, I believe this one is the secular one, though, because NPSARC is mentioned).

Their campus would presumably be located at 720 NW 27th Av in Miami, and the phone number is 305-643-1622.

Seems like a completely legit alternative program, unless someone catches something that I haven't.

    let's look...

    ...at their two accreditors.

    National Private Schools Accreditation Alliance.
NPSAA does seem to provide certificates to post-secondary institutions as well as pre-college entities. For example, the North Florida Theological Seminary is "is Provisionally accredited as a Class I Academic Institution to award Associate though Doctorate Degrees with the National Private Schools Accreditation Alliance." There is
an article in the Palm Beach Post about a failed charter school accredited by NPSAA:
So that doesn't sound like a particularly demanding kind of accreditor!

    International University Accrediting Association.
In July, 2001 the site had been registered this way:
    Registrant:
    International University Accrediting Association
    P.O. Box 70018
    Pasadena, CA 91117
    US

    Domain Name: ACCREDITING.COM
    Administrative Contact:
    Eagle, Chief Swift
    International University Accrediting Association
    P.O. Box 70018
    Pasadena , CA 91117
    626-795-8133 (FAX) 626-568-1116

Now the registration information is partially obscured.

Swift Eagle collaborates with Richard J. Hoyer in a number of activities. (Search DegreeInfo for more about this.)

Neither of the NPSAA and IUAA entities are listed in the CHEA databases of recognized accreditors.

But let's get real: who is pushing this entity? Why, it's American Coastline University! From a letter sent by the State of Hawaii Office of Consumer Protection to the Louisiana and New York State Boards of Regents:
So it appears to be a Richard J. Hoyer entity.

So they are just leeching off the fact that multiple real institutions with the name exist in their alleged area? Although this could be a real institution that the aforementioned group is using for cover.

The only way to know for sure would be to call the recognized ones and see if they own this site. If they don't, I'm sure they would have a considerable interest in shutting it down.

And do other mills use these same goofy Flash movies? "Hello, Parent or Guardian".

Hi again, If Florida reconizes it can I use it to get into Capella? or any other online schools? and does anyone see this school as a degree mill.

I quite dont understand the replys?

I wouldn't touch it unless you call the legitimate institutions with the same name and verify that this site belongs to one of them . . . The numbers are on the link I posted, or better yet, if you actually live there, actually inquire in person as to whether they own the site.

It could very well be a mill, as galanga seems to think . . . This one and the American Coastline-owned one seem to be different, though, IMO.

as galanga posted: it is apparently part of American Coasstline University. If you'd ask, whether American Coastline is a good place to enroll into, I guess it would be very hard to find anyone saying "yes". therefore I also surely wouldn't n roll in its "high school"

    Sauseda,

If you'd like to obtain your high school diploma with regional accreditation, you can try Education Direct or PCDI. Both diploma programs are self-paced, and they are both designed to be completed within 2 years. Howver, you can complete it in less time. Some students take a year or less, depending on their rate of study, the last grade attended in high school, etc.

    Hope this helps.
