Is Frederick Taylor University a degree mill?

I would like to hear from students at FTU (current and graduated ones).

According to BPPVE, FTU is "approved*/registered**"...what does this means? and waht's the difference with "accredited"?

    Thanks for your commets,

    Josh

    1. Click on "Search"
    2. Type in "Frederick Taylor University"
    3. Read 71 posts on both Frederick Taylor universities (run by the same man from the same office).
    4. Find out which state you live in.
    5. If it is one of the states where FTU degrees are illegal and use of them is a criminal offense, consider another schools.
    6. Read some of the articles available on this site about accreditation, approval, and so on.
    7. Find Bears' Guide to Earning Degrees by Distance Learning in your local library and read the much longer commentary on these matters (and on Taylor and hundreds of other schools, good, bad, and fake.
    8. Good luck.

Unfortunately, broad comments like "it's a degree mill" or "it's not a degree mill" aren't useful. But this is:

FTU was operating in California when that state allowed schools to function with little or no oversight (in the "Authorized" category). What that changed, schools were required to get approved by the state or move out. FTU decided to stay, but could get only a few programs approved. The rest they moved to the much-more-lenient locale of Hawaii. Only, they didn't really move. Both FTU's were operated from the same location in California. Which degree you pursue determined whether or not you got it from the Hawaii-licensed or California-Approved version of FTU. But now it seems the FTU ("FTIU," actually) in Hawaii has stopped operations. See http://www.hawaii.gov/dcca/ocp/case_info.html for more information about that case and others against unaccredited degree-granting institutions in Hawaii.

Degree mill? In the eye of the beholder. But the facts are necessary for one to come to an informed "beholding."
