The State of Hawaii, by its Office of Consumer Protection, filed suit on September 24, 2004 against Earthnet Institute (a Hawaii nonprofit corporation). The suit alleges that the defendant violated various provisions of Hawaii's Unaccredited Degree Granting Institutions Law (Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 446E) and seeks injunctive relief, restitution, civil penalties and other equitable relief.

american pacific university has an office in honolulu. It says in big letters on their door: American Pacific University and American Institute of Hypnotherapy. apprently they share an office, and the woman inside does business for both. that might also be why the Hypnotherapy website is redirecting to American Pacific University.

Now comes the surprise: The president of American Pacific University has his doctorate from the American Institute of Hypnotherapy. So without knowing anything else about the school, this smells somehow like a "self-award" and would be enough reason for me to cross the school of my potential list of unaccredited colleges.
