CCU has stopped offering the DL Doctoral Program for over a year. So, what happened to those who has spent nickels and years but have not yet graduated?? Of course, what about those who have graduated? I know someone who took a few years and spent tears and sweats to get graduated from its DBA program; and this friend of mine graduated from UHM with MBA and MS; and was Senior Lecturer from renowned University from a South East Asian country.

Any news or info or comments about CCU, please post.

Thanks for your contribution in advance.

Persons who enrolled in CCU doctoral programmes before a specified cut-off date are being permitted to complete their work.
As long as CCU entertains hopes of receiving DETC accreditation, the doctoral programmes are gone.

    What Uncle Janko said.

DETC expects CCU to "teach out" students in its pipeline. They wouldn't want to violate the agreement between CCU and the students. It isn't clear if that will extend to those admitted to master's/doctoral programs who've not yet proceeded to the doctoral portion.

DETC has also made it clear that any doctorates awarded by CCU after its accreditation will fall outside of the scope of that accreditation. It isn't clear to what extent potential employers will make that distinction. There are some who hope to exploit that.

Being enrolled in CCU right now...I can say that those enrolled in the Doctorate programs prior to them even acknowledging that they were pursuing DETC knew they were enrolled in a State Approved Doctoral program going in. That hasn't changed. I feel that they should still be proud of their personal accomplishment should they complete the Doctoral program.

Besides, I would imaging that DETC could start accrediting doctorals in the future. How long after they do will CCU need to meet before being able to add Doctorals again, I do not know.

I will tell you that SCUps big reason they chose to be removed from seeking accreditation was due to required changes that would have to be put in place in a quick timeframe and I was informed by them that removing the Doctorals has shown to be a HUGE financial loss due to the large demand for Doctoral programs. From what they told me, they are awaiting DETC to add Doctorals, but are already making required changes that they know are to be required to be in a better position once they choose to apply.

On a positive note for CCU, Yes, they probably have taken a BIG hit financially speaking by removing the demanding doctoral programs. This is a sheer sign of a university that is aggressively seeking to adapt for the future and are SERIOUS in their efforts. I definitely do not see anything wrong with that. I'm also eagerly awaiting the final results. Like you said.. Waiting..waiting.

I believe the guidelines proposed by DETC which will be voted on in Jan. require a school to have been accredited for at least 2 years before they can apply for accred. of any doctoral programs. If CCU were awarded accreditation in Jan. 05, they wouldn't be able to apply for accreditation of doctoral programs till Jan. 07. Given a year or so to comply with the application process, the earliest might be 2008 or 2009 before they had a DETC accredited doc. program. Any doctoral students currently in the pipeline would have to be done long before then as 5 years is the max. time limit for completion of the degree.

I just realized I hit senior member status. Woo hoo! I feel like Grocho Marx though: I'm suscpicious of any distance learning forum that would have me as a senior member.
