The Saint Regis entry page now contains a Shockwave animation showing the old SRU page being peeled away to revealk the messages "We're wiping the slate clean!" and "We're turning a new page!" followed by a page which declares "New Management... New Programs... and a Fresh New Beginning!" Further,
The revised entry page shows medallions labeled "Saint Regis University School of Business," "Saint Regis University School of Art," "Saint Regis University School of Law," "Saint Regis University School of Religion," anf "Saint Regis University School of Music."

There are no links in the page to other pages in the SRU site. Well, how about that!

Back when various SRU advocates were posting to DegreeInfo there were occasional assertions that SRU was changing its policies. Could that be what's going on now, or is that too optimistic a view of what is taking place?

I see that Robertstown is still trying to place Winston Churchill's birthplace (Blenheim Palace) in Monrovia. Further, James Monroe is still going about its affairs.

    Who knows?

    water-based, or not?

A little lubricant does wonders. Things that come to mind:
    • vaseline (but that dissolves latex)
    • K-Y jelly (water soluble, non-toxic)
    • 10W-40 (good for cold/hot operation, but not something for the mucous membranes)
    • ice near its melting point (danger of frostbite!)
    • 3-in-1 oil (US/European light oil, good for sewing machines)
I trust that this is the kind of thing you meant by "slick?"

If St Regis operated as a real school, I can't imagine why anyone would attend. Reading the posts of many of their shill/graduate PhDs, I suspect many would have trouble passing any level at a real school.

Can they shift their market to real students, who are looking for an education instead of a piece of paper, and pull it off? I doubt it. There has to be a catch.

Does anyone know whether the new owners differ significantly from the old owners? Is this just a corporate shell game?

I don't know why this email appear in my mailbox, but I think it answer your question. SRU do their business in another way, but still selling degree mills:

As you may have seen at our website, St. Regis University has been bought out by Founders Mission Corporation.

This new owner will not be offering degrees granted through 100% Prior Learning Assessment (PLA).

This means that all new students entering SRU will have to earn at least 25% of their credits through coursework, dissertation, etc.

However, if you have an application in process, or if you have had free evaluation done in the past two years but have not yet accepted your degree, you have until the last day of this month to accept your degree - without having to reapply or take additional courses or complete addition requirements.

If you have already qualified, or if you have an application in progress you will need to accept and obtain your degree this month or you may not be able to get one through this process.

If you have not had an assessment done you may still do so BUT ONLY UNTIL AUGUST 31, 2004 at http://saintregis.edu.lr/admissions.html

All degrees granted during this LAST WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY are fully legitimate and valid. The new ownership does not affect the degree granting authority or accreditation of St. Regis University.

If you have any questions please use the counselor contact form at http://saintregis.edu.lr/contact.htm

    Sincerely,

NBE and Founders Mission Transition Staff

A few weeks ago, on another (now defunct) board, somebody with screen name of "Len" (?) posted that SRU was going to become fully accredited in the USA.
    You don't suppose. . .? Naww

Muji's post looks like a blatant advertisement for a blatant degree mill, at to me.
