    Criticism spurs candidate debate
    • ... Denning directly addressed only the issue of Myers' doctorate from Southwest University, a distance-learning program based in Louisiana.

The school was not accredited when Myers received his degree. It has since been accredited but no longer advertises a doctoral program. Myers has said that he picked the school because he could not find a doctoral program in criminal justice in the Midwest and that he worked hard for the degree.

“He has built a house of cards, and it has fallen,” Denning said.

So, if someone takes a doctorate from a school that drops its doctoral programs and receives DETC accreditation, that person is disgraced. That wouldn't bode well for CCU grads, even after DETC accreditation (if it happens).

You know sometimes life isn't fair. CCU appears to be pretty good yet it still takes a lot of flak, e.g., bad press like above, the Senate hearings. On the other hand I've heard people question some of the CCU doctorate programs on this forum, like some don't include dissertations? So I guess sometimes things are fair?
