I agree, Bill. The former Iraqi Propa... oops, Information Minister would be a perfect spokesman for SRU.

    I love the guy too.

I mean, just think of his performance on his last day:

The Americans are not in Baghdad! They have been soundly defeated! They are running away!

    Oscar quality.

All to a sound track of gunfire and with US Army M-1 tanks visible rumbling along the opposite river bank behind him.

You have to respect it somehow. The guy didn't even know if he'd be alive the next day but he bravely hung in there, spooning out total bullshit to eager foreign reporters with style and panache. As the website says, tremendous method acting in a very short running production.

I can easily imagine it. All decked out in pressed fatigues and with his beret at a jaunty angle:

Saint Regis is located in Liberia! It has excellent academic standards! It is RA-equivalent!

All to the accompaniment of pecking birds, fast-track degrees and rolling heads.

I'm happy to see that the Minister has found a new gig. I'm not particularly surprised that it's as a political pundit on Abu Dhabi TV. (Equally believable.) But I still say that he looked way cooler in his fatigues and beret.

Oh, but St. Reptile's current spokesweasel is apparently an organist by training, so whenever I read anything from him I hear the theme from Phantom of the Opera, which is so perfect for the situation that I would not want to trade him in.

Except possibly, possibly, for Ari Fleischer.

    bowtie sympathy

I bet it's just the bowtie that makes you like him.

It's a dangerous job, being an SRU spokesperson. One or two media interviews and they get zapped! Richard Novak spoke to Indianapolis reporter Sandra Chapman and then disappeared. Ishaq Shafiq and Bob Stefaniak were ambushed by WTHR-TV at an Indiana Chrysler plant; Shafiq is now gone.

Dennis Chandler is still around, but SRU used his torso as a mount for several professors' heads so they still need his services, at least those available from the neck down.
