From the Kansas City, MO The Pitch: Oral Argument: An esteemed Overland Park dentist defends his offshore degree.
Just to be clear: the validity of Dr. Thomas' DDS credential is not in question. It is his MD (which is not required for his professional license) that worries the Kansas medical board.

Yeah. It's a consumer protection/fraud sort of thing, I guess. He implies by listing the M.D. that he is better qualified than a "mere" D.D.S. That's not an accurate statement, soooo...they nail him for false advertising as a violation of his dental ethics.

The advertising standards set by professional licensing boards are really pretty high, even for lawyers (grin). Until the '80s, lawyers couldn't advertise AT ALL. (Personally, I would avoid using a lawyer who advertises heavily. My personal prejudice.)
