Absurd. Nobody grants an MDiv for a thesis and 5 courses. No faculty listed. No address listed. Logo of Canadian Unitarians ripped off. No accreditation claimed. No Korean language popup (if real and in Korea, why not?). Nonononononononono!

There are, of course, many real and impressive Korean seminaries, though this is not one of them.

If you want Korean theological education, Midwest Theological Seminary in Wentzville MO is a candidate institution with TRACS and is a reputable and improving school. Most of its staff and students are Korean or Korean-American. I am sure there are some ATS-accredited Korean ministry tracks, too. I know that some risible "seminaries" previously dissected here have jumped on that bandwagon, but I won't help them by mentioning their names.

Eckhart? It may be mystical but it sure ain't meisterful.

No payment is required until completion of your program, according to the ETS website.

Perhaps this is why no faculty is listed, i.e., no salaries to pay.

Local church based seminary? In my church, though not necessarily in others, that's called Sunday school.

    Hey, there's an idea.

    (dreaming)

Guys, there's good news tonight. I'm founding the John Muehlhaeuser School of Religion and Divinity Seminary.

Our first doctoral, oops, I mean doctorial, degree will be awarded to Leonora (Mrs. Adolph) Schnitzelgruber, nee Pfurtzschke. Sixty years of Lemon Crisco Bars at church potlucks oughta be worth something, after all. Not to mention using grappling hooks, Nabal the pit bull, and just plain old Prussian oompha to haul the tractor out of the swamp after Adolph got real drunk on that snowy day in August and missed the barn entirely; I remember at Adolph's funeral how Nora dressed the dog up in a little knit tuxedo and he slept real nice all the way through the sermon (one of my best) called "From Pfurtzschke's Slough to the Pearly Gates, or, from John Deere to Jesus".

We use private confession to assess life experience; it's paperless and the threat of hell fire works lots better than proctors and affidavits.

Leonora's dissertation, "Theological considerations on paid-for farm equipment versus rising spousal medical expenses: a confessional Lutheran perspective," has been assessed by me and a panel of outside readers including my friend Schatzi Winkmeister from the Colfax County Coroner's Office (who insisted), Professor Park Park Park from Heinrich Suso Seminary in Pusan, South Korea, and an expert from degreeinfo who really doesn't want his name used but has a GAAP doctorate from the Central African Republic.

The graduation will be after mass on Sunday, with a reception to follow at Pavelescu's Pizza Trap out on Highway 86. (Carpathian-owned, but Rica and Earl have been "passing" as I-talians ever since they came to town. Don't tell the locals.)

    (wakes up)

    Eckhart, shmeckhart. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Why does Eckhart Theological Seminary remind me of Erhardt Seminar Training.

"You're just a bunch of tubes. In one end and out the other!" :)

I haven't seen EST referred to in years!

Eckhart Seminary immediately brought to mind that great mystic Meister Eckhart.

Seoul Fellowship Church in Seoul, South Korea where Eckhart Seminary affiliated with is an online fellowship for Korean and foreign gay/bisexual/transgendered
people of faith who are currently living in Korea.

That church is open for anyone who is a
sexual minority, and those who are heterosexual as well.

If you want to learn to be gay minister, go for it.

Bad advice. If you are "gay" and want to pursue seminary training, at minimum the (all accredited) seminaries of the United Church of Christ, Unitarian-Universalist Association, and Friends United Meeting will admit you regardless of sexual orientation/activity. This also applies to many liberal Protestant seminaries and some Roman Catholic seminaries as well. There is no need for anybody to patronize this evanescent institution.

How does one "learn" to be a gay minister?

Don't you mean learning to minister to the gay community?

    Hi Bill!

I change the sig line about once per month. Who knows, I might put up the self-aggrandizing sigs next month, ha!

Actually, I may put the Talbot quote back up. Or, I could aggravate the far left and put up a President George W. Bush quote.

Maybe I will quote President William Jefferson Clinton on morality!:D :D :D :D

I checked out their yahoo club. I was interested since I am currently lving in Seoul.

They are a small group of gay folks hanging out in Itaewon, which is the "foreigners' district" just outside of the Yongsan Army garrison where I work. Itaewon is a collection of people who aren't really welcome in other parts of Korea - servicemembers, Russians, Phillipinos, Pakistanis, "juicy girls", and the GLBT.

What is odd is that since the military has started to work with the Koreans to combat prostitution and human trafficking, the local businesses have shift their emphasis on making money from street girls to gays. We put a lot of places off-limits. The vacuum has been replaced with a number of gay bars - one where this group meets. So, in a sense, the Army is responsible for creating a gay friendly neighborhood.
