Why on earth the Australian Universities applying for DETC? Does that mean the Australian Universities going to DROP offering PhD degrees?

Arent all the Australian Universities meet or exceed the GAAP/RA requirements?

What possible advantages would be gained by DETC accredication, it seems like these universities are going backwards?

No, not going backwards - more like seeking greater recognition in the eyes of the US and other overseas markets. It's like University of South Australia seeking EQUIS accreditation for its MBA programs - it's another feather in the recognition cap.

    Cheers,

    George

No, under DETC standards, foreign schools may continue to offer PhD programs.
