    Hi all,

Apart from identifying the federal employees and agencies that obtained degrees from Dip Mill and Unaccredited Universities, what was purpose of Senator Collin & GAO’s investigation?

Will there be a constitutional amendment to clean out Diploma Mills and erase out unaccredited universities as result of the investigation or the invesigation committee powerless to recommend that kind of a change?

Constitutional amendments are very rare and there's no need in this case. As a matter of fact the guy from the OPM felt that there was no need for any new laws. In his opinion, the problem is solved by better enforcing the laws that are already on the books. He made reference to some recent more clearly defined policies that had been enacted by the OPM. At the time he was only addressing the use of unaccredited degrees within the civil service.

The committee could theoretically recommend an amendment to the constituion but that won't happen. More likely is a recomendation for a law to close the loophole allowing degrees from degree mills to be paid for by the government. Also possible is a law to make it illegal to even claim an unaccredited degree for purposes of employment at the federal government. I consider anything else unlikely.
