In Educators’ Degrees Earned On Internet Raise Fraud Issues, published in Education Week May 5, Andrew Trotter wrote "Sheila Danzig said in an interview last month that she runs CCI [Career Consultants International] under the business name of Elizabeth or Liz Ross" and that "she said her company receives a fee, paid by Saint Regis, every time CCI evaluates the academic credentials of one of its students."

Since this is likely to reduce the number of SRU dossiers sent to CCI, it is natural to wonder if there is an alternative credential evaluating firm that might arise to perform the services previously offered by CCI.

The Saint Regis Degrees By Exam page now states that
The two links which point into the ACAC site (that "independent testing agencies" link is the first one) merit a little scrutiny.

The domain registration information for ACAC is largely empty:

The creation date for many of the pages in the site is May 16, 2004. (Yesterday!)

The ACAC Qualifications page lists two "senior evaluators": Professor M. Rehiambal Beevi and F. A. Sulthan. At the bottom of this page we are reassured that "Our experienced team follows strict ethical standards."

Ms. Beevi can also be found on the Saint Regis faculty roster at www.sru-edu.net/faculty.htm with her bio at www.sru-edu.net/faculty/M_Rehiambal_Beevi.htm . (She had been present in the Google cache of http://saintregis.edu.lr/faculty.htm until earlier today.)

The ACAC Select Exams Information page ends with a "Buy Now" button. Clicking that takes visitors to the PayPal page https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr which specifies the "Payment Details" as

    Pay To: AEIT
    Payment For: ACAC Exm
    Currency: U.S. Dollars
    Amount: $25.00 USD

(You'll actually need to click the "Buy Now" button yourself to have the form submitted in a fashion which will produce the account information for you.)

Recall that AEIT is "Advanced Education Institute Trust," whose internet domain is the (perhaps familiar) www.advancedu.org . (For example, the Yahoo directory page http://dir.yahoo.com/Education/Distance_Learning/Colleges_and_Universities/Credit_for_Prior_Experience/ contains an "Advanced Education Institute Trust" link which takes visitors to http://www.advancedu.org/)

Note that it is www.advancedu.org that posts the "Positions Available" ad for "Experienced Foreign Credential Evaluators" whose "Primary Responsibilities" are "Completing H-1B petitions, completing Department of Labor and INS forms, drafting cover and job duty letters, filing LCA (Labor Condition Application), filing the I-129 petition and all follow up involved in obtaining H-1B Visa."

The ACAC site also refers to H-1B visas:
The Saint Regis homepage includes a link to the pdf document http://saintregis.edu.lr/Assessment%20Process%20to%20Foil%20Cheating.pdf: Press Release Regarding New Processes.

The press release specifies St. Regis University President Dr. Jallah Faciann; Government Ministry of Education Dr. Daniel Bestman, Executive Director, National Commission on Higher Education; Dr Robert Stefaniak, St. Regis University Public Relations Agent as contact persons.

Here is a brief selection from the press release.
It seems entirely possible that the "Academic Credential Assessment Corporation," whose listed staff of two includes a Saint Regis professor, and whose money flows into AEIT, is the "independent evaluation agency" referred to in the Saint Regis press release.

Perhaps they're adding a few more wrong answers to the multiple choice tests so that only half of the bird brains can be expected to pass?

AEIT is the standard recipient for paypal payments for st.regis. every page referring to the ultimate degree guide, or however that e-book is called, is linked to AEIT. Same for James Monroe University.

    Pouf! It's gone!

The links to ACAC on the Saint Regis page http://saintregis.edu.lr/degrees_by_exam_tm.htm are gone now. All that's there is
Now information about credential evaluators must be requested via email.

The ACAC site is still active, but the spelling of the last name of its first evaluator has been changed:

    before: "M. Rehiambal Beevi"
    after: "Rehiambal Bevei"

In addition, Ms. Beevi/Bevei has now been removed from the page www.sru-edu.net/faculty.htm.

I have never heard of an independant testing agency being a member of AACRAO or NAFSA...... But I could be wrong.

I also think they should start paying us for all the fact finding we do for them :D

    Really??

Then why some Universities in US can be established with only one staff and a small office? I don't think they will pay off the USS officials....

People pay for useless paper because they can often fool people into thinking that it's legitimate.

Employers sometimes do accept it, until the true nature of the "degree" is exposed.

    UFO's, University Services, etc. etc.

Since that university-services link wasn't typed correctly, let's take a look elsewhere on the site.

Start here: http://www.university-services.net/payments.htm to find "If you have arrived at this website and wish to pay Liberty Preparatory High School Graduation fees please click here."

The "Online payment form" button takes you here: http://www.university-services.net/services/highschool_pay/Liberty/highschool_worldpaynew.html

If you select the "check by fax" payment method, then click the "submit" button you are taken here (you'll need to click the submit button to be able to access the form properly): http://www.university-services.net/cgi-bin/liymailit.pl where you'll find
Looking for more occurrences of the fax number (800) 375 5033 yields:

"California Course Registration" at https://www.marketrends.net/aplusnow/CA.htm ...
There's also the "A+ Broker Affiliate Program" at http://www.aplusnow.com/broker_affiliate.htm
And, for Those Who See Lights In The Sky, there is "Sightings of Mysterious... Unexplained... Phenomena..." at http://www.thesightingzone.com/ where http://www.thesightingzone.com/certify.htm lets you pay to register a UFO sighting.

    Re: try this again

    interesting reading. http://www.university-services.net/jamesmonroe/fp_ti.html

Well, look at that! It's a lot more expensive than Saint Regis, for example $200 to be the valedictorian. (That only costs $99 from SRU if I recall correctly.) The money flows the same way, though: the "check by fax" option instructs clients to

    Hi everybody,

It's all very, very confusing (deliberately?). In their press releases they state that all prior learning assessments will from now on be performed by outside, independent agencies.
However, on their website they appear to say in one place that their own consultants or advisors will perform those assessments following the standards set by various ogranizations. In other places they appear to say the opposite, and in still other places, like the faculty page, it seems (although it's not clear) that their faculty have now undertaken that role.

They also seem to state that the exams will now be conducted by independent evaluators. Do evaluators conduct exams? Probably I'm wrong, but I thought that evaluators only evaluate, I didn't know that evaluators conduct exams for schools. Isn't that the job of CLEP, DANTES, GRE, etc.?

Probably it's just me, but after reading their website a couple of times, I'm still in the dark as to how exactly they conduct their assessment and examination business.

Just my opinion from the little I know.

  19. SRU Evaluation Process

    Step 1: Swipe credit card
Step 2: Print diploma & transcripts
Step 3: Mail to the happy customer

(Note - sometimes "step 1" is preceded by a perfunctory "glance at submitted resume before tossing in garbage" stage).

    ACAC outsourcing the outsourcing

ACAC is now offering to train other "PLA" evaluators:
    They're also hiring new staff.

I worked in a drug store when I was a youngster. The placed stocked a laxative whose label read "Serutan aid to regularity. Read it backwards!" I find myself thinking about a similar motto for ACAC.
