Assuming you meant "St. Regis," not "Regis," they're not universities at all. They're mearly business posing as universities. They award degrees that are recognized by no one.

    Rich,

One of the most telling findings in your research was how adding the word "state" in the title seems to boost the recognition and perceived credibility of schools (including bogus ones).

So how about St. Regis State University, Columbus State University and Madison State University? :)

But wait, you say...Columbus State University is already a legitimate university!

My answer: See, it's working already!

No, we can't forget good 'ol Breyer State on the reservation. Hey, how about Knightsbridge State U.?

Here's a couple of other schools that could use a little reputation uplift with our sure-fire "state" tag:

    Harvard State University
    Yale State University
    Princeton State University
    Stanford State University
Massachussetts Institute of Technology State University
    Johns Hopkins State University

    How about these two?

    Union Institute and State University
University of Maryland University College State University

I'd better go...I'm having too much fun.

Unified is a good word that seems to work well in business names. Too bad Rich didn't test Unified.

Berkeley Unified University of California State
    Unified Oklahoma State University
Oxford Unified University (Unified works in foreign countries where State might not work as well!)
    Kennedy-Unified-Western University
