Two years or so ago, the dubious Calamus University, pride of Turks and Caicos, ran an ad in the Mensa Bulletin.

I wrote to the magazine at the time, suggesting that they were not doing their readers a service by running such ads. Mensa said "Oh dear, oh dear," and not only canceled the ad, but instituted a new policy on school advertisements, they said.

In the current Mensa Bulletin, there is an advertisement for Calamus University. Is this smart?

    Must be, it's Mensa.

Hey - why don't I get the Mensa Bulletin?

Calamus will be taking pride of place in a presentation I am to make at the Australian Universities Quality Forum in July. I love their warning page about diploma mills - its a hoot!

    Cheers,

    George

Is this in the US bulletin or the International? I only get the UK version.

Wonder if we could get Mensa to advertise Calamitus University?

Ian: Is this (Calamus ad) in the US bulletin or the International? I only get the UK version

John: Not sure. The US Bulletin has four pages of "International" in the back. I've never been clear if that is a portion of some larger International or all of it or something different entirely. That's where the ad was.

Incidentally Mensa HQ in Texas replied, saying they would look into it.
