Well, "many countries" may be an exaggeration. Under "FEATURED SCHOOLS"
(http://www.thedegreecounselors.com/featured_schools.htm), I see schools from exactly 2 countries, the US and Liberia. The US offerings comprise 7 Regionally Accredited colleges (American InterContinental University, DeVry University, Hamilton College (Iowa/Nebraska), Jones International University, Skidmore College, University of Florida, University of Phoenix); 6 Nationally Accredited colleges (Cardean University, Chubb Institute, Golden State College-Bakersfield, ITT Technical Institute, Morrison University); and 1 unaccredited college (Kennedy-Western University). The Liberian offerings are Saint Regis University, James Monroe University, Robertstown University, and Liberty Prep High School.

Strange thing is, when you click on any Liberian school, you are taken directly to its Website; but if you click on a US college, you are redirected to a page at http://www.search4careercolleges.com with a "Request Information" button, to a page at http://www.qksrv.net, or to a page at http://track.directleads.com.
Ah, so they admit that they won't send your application to any of the 14 US "FEATURED SCHOOLS". I wonder if any of those "FEATURED SCHOOLS" might want to have their lawyers send "The Degree Counselors" a note, demanding not to be "FEATURED".
"Here" is http://www.thedegreecounselors.com/reportfraud.htm, and lists 11 bogus accreditors, not surprisingly not including the NBOE. It goes on:
    "Clicking here" does:
<a href="mailto:[email protected]?subject=Please send examples of misinformation at public forums">
    Maybe someone should try it.

    AdvancedU Randock

Note the email address specified by http://www.thedegreecounselors.com/facts.htm : it goes to AdvancedU.org.

In this post the July, 2001 domain registrations for AdvancedU.org and Transcriptrecords.com are shown:
So we appear to have another commercial venture run by Dixie Randock and her colleagues. Do recall the Spokane Spokesman Review articles about some of their other enterprises; there are links to them here.

Now hiring: Experienced Foreign Credential Evaluators

    "Advanced Education Development" (AdvancedU) announces
I wonder why they don't name the evaluation agency in the announcement?

I was hoping so, too, but Mark started this thread in March, so I'm guessing not. I do hope we here from Rosie soon, though, on how he's doing.

Re: Now hiring: Experienced Foreign Credential Evaluators

I found the description of the position's duties interesting:

    Primary Responsibilities

Completing H-1B petitions, completing Department of Labor and INS forms, drafting cover and job duty letters, filing LCA (Labor Condition Application), filing the I-129 petition and all follow up involved in obtaining H-1B Visa.

    Job Qualifications

Must be experienced in foreign academic credential evaluation, particularity H-1B Visa.

Despite ostensibly being a advertisement for 'Experienced Foreign Credential Evaluators', the position sounds like some kind of immigration clerk.

    Here's a description of the H-1B program:

    http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/h1b.htm

    Notice particularly:

    What is a specialty occupation?

A specialty occupation requires theoretical and practical application of a body of specialized knowledge along with at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. For example, architecture, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, social sciences, medicine and health, education, business specialties, accounting, law, theology, and the arts are specialty occupations.

All done hiring foreign credential experts??

That ad for H-1B visa experts on the AED site entry page is gone. Maybe ACAC is fully staffed now?

The ACAC site has a guarantee, of sorts, towards the bottom of this page:
I did not notice a copy of "their list of pre-approved universities" on the site.

Oxford, Cambridge, The Sorbonne, University of Tokyo perhaps?

Sometimes it occurs that it is better to keep lists out of sight so that it is not so obvious how non-list like the list actually is.

    inconsistencies

    From http://saintregis.edu.lr/usequivalencyreport.htm:
From Educators’ Degrees Earned On Internet Raise Fraud Issues:
A fine point: SRU says it is not paid BY evaluators. Ms. Danzig says she does not pay money TO Saint Regis, but instead receives money FROM SRU. Their assertions are consistent. The inconsistency stems from SRU's statement that it is not "connected" to any evaluation agency.

And then there's that business with the evaluator ACAC...

Re: Re: Now hiring: Experienced Foreign Credential Evaluators

Which means it usually requires an evaluation. When I was getting my H1-B (that I wasn't able to use), one of the papers I received from the employer and brought to U. S. consulate was the evaluation of my then bachelor's degree (I beleive the evaluator company was named "Trustforte" or something similar... I still have the paper somewhere). More importantly, evaluation is needed for "labor certification" stage of the process.
