There are other schools listed with "state approval", but no recognized accreditation. Those degrees are not widely accepted in the United States and actually banned in some states.

A large number of these are still real schools, operating legally, with real academic programs.

Unless you can understand the difference between degree mills and such schools, you are providing a service to no-one.

If you lived in the US, you would probably be sued by some of these schools.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to try to create a list of fake schools.

First of all, it might expose you to a defamation lawsuit.

Second, it will embroil you in endless arguments about whether or not particular schools are 'fake' or 'legitimate'.

Third, your list will inevitably be incomplete, so it might create the impression that fake schools that you inadvertantly missed are actually legitimate.

Personally, I prefer to try to identify publicly visible indicators of legitimacy that can help us separate legitimate schools from those that probably aren't. Then those criteria can be applied to whatever schools we have questions about.

But in many cases this is going to be a judgement call and our conclusions are sometimes going to be controversial.

Since you live in Thailand, you might consider investigating what it takes to have a foreign degree recognized in that country, for general employment and for various kinds of licensing.

Then make a list of schools whose degrees won't be recognized in Thailand, at least for some applications. That would lessen your legal liability and it would provide you with a better defined selection procedure and lead to more easily justified conclusions.

Just to point one of the schools out - New Horizons is a school that offers computer classes , MCSE , CCNA, N+, A+, Word, Excel, etc.

They do not claim to be a college and offer degrees and they are very real. Also, California Coast is on the list and I do not consider them a fake school.

Although some are scams, this seems to be a list of schools that you know nothing about or a list of schools that you have heard gossip about.

Sorry about the list I make. I just only correct from other reliable source like The Australian's journal, India Ministry of education , etc.

and I feel a little bit surprise that aome list are not correct!! like The Australian's classify Norwich University as a degree mill but I just know from italiansupernova that it've Regionally Accredited (NEASC).

It is not so much that some on the list are incorrect. I think that it is more of an issue that when you try to compile the "more complete list" from those multiple sources, the context of their list is lost. For example, if you titled your list instead of "fake schools" as a list of schools whose degrees might have questionable utility then it might be better. Although I still think the cautions given you by others in this thread are valid.

I see that something called "Northwestern Californian" is on the list. If this is a reference to Northwestern California University School of Law ( http://www.nwculaw.edu ), I'd like to point out that the latter is perhaps the best of the CA-approved DL law schools, along with Taft and Oakbrook, judged by its graduates' success on the latest state bar exam. Its 50% pass-rate overlaps the low end of the state's residential ABA law schools.

But, see, you're a good target for good-natured ribbing. You've earned CCU degrees. But instead of over-hyping their utility, you must have recognized the limitations and decided to earn more valuable degrees. That in no way diminishes the CCU degrees--they are what they are, and nothing to be ashamed of (of course).
