    I don't see how Maxine's mystical powers from Atlantis could have possibly failed her in this case? Maybe she had a cold or something and it temporarily weakened her?

    Well I am going to log another "atta boy" here for Mr. Brunton.
    Way to go! :)

    Actually, since Hawaii has no way of enforcing its actions, didn't Dr. Asher once again beat the system?

    Is it me, or does Jeff Brunton have one of the coolest jobs ever?

    Bruce, would you consider a move to sunny Hawaii? You could establish the ODE, the very first degree mill task force.;)

    I would do so in a second, as long as I had;

    1) Ultimate authority as to what schools were legitimate or not.

    2) A team of highly-qualified, highly-paid investigators to check things out. I foresee John Bear, Rich Douglas, Steve Levicoff, Gus Sainz, George Brown, and a bunch of others on my payroll.

    3) The authority to eliminate any and all evidence of non-legitimate schools. That includes websites.

    4) The authority to administer savage beatings to degree mill owners and shills.

    Okay, I really don't need or want #4, but you get the idea. :D

    I love this quote from Maxine Asher;

    "Regarding the state of Hawaii, there are a number of universities, including American World, who sometime this year with the appropriate counsel will be suing the state of Hawaii for illegal lawsuits and harassment and a number of other issues".

    I'm sure that Jeff Brunton is quaking in his shoes. :rolleyes:

    The one great thing about the current Hawaii laws is that enforcement is so simple. Here's a summary from my memory.

    1. Does an institution make any indication that it operates from Hawaii?

    2. Is the institution unaccredited?

    3. Does the institution
    claim accreditation not approved by CHEA or
    claim to be approved by Hawaii or
    claim to be sanctioned by Hawaii?

    Answering yes to all three means that the law has been broken, IIRC. I'm also missing some other things that could get a degree mill in trouble but the point is it seems pretty cut and dried and I don't have any clue what they could sue the state about.
