I was wondering if there is a site or list of schools that might have their accredidation in question. I have heard that Touro and Excelsior are both being looked at.

  2. Touro on probation, Excelsior has no pending action against it...

Both Touro and Excelsior are members of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, one of the "regional accreditors" in the US. Here is a link to their pending actions

    http://www.msache.org/msache/content/pdf_files/actions.pdf

As you can see, there is no mention of Excelsior in this document, however there is mention of Touro's probation...

    I just noticed...

That the Open University of London applied for MSA accreditation and has been granted candidacy. What's up with that?

    Re: I just noticed...

I believe that was their sister branch, the USOU. They received DETC accreditation right away, along with RA candidacy. They've announced the closure of the program, though. It wasn't profitable.

No, this is not USOU, but the U.K. Open University itself (of Milton Keynes, not London).

The accreditation of Excelsior is not in question. I would be curious to learn where you heard or read this?

    alt.eduction.distance

It was part of a discussion on alt.education.distance. I happened across it while searching DL on google.

I don't remember who posted it.

The rest of the group seemed loopy but my paranoia kicked in since I am about to send Excelsior money so I thought I would ask here.

DEB: In answer to your original question - you have to check each accreditor seperately. There is no master list, and then you need to check exactly what the action is (if any).
