    dear degreeinfo member

i have a question with berne university.

    1. once, berne university obtain USDOE education loan title IV. for the university or college who successfully obtain these means they are accredited by US DOE. at the same time why, ODA and degreeinfo member always attack berne are degree mill.

    2. when berne lost their title IV qualification, all the degreeinfo member start to attack the berne again with their admin, course level, and state level accreditaion.

    3. in US or even worldwide, accreditation means the qualification of the university / college are accept by government. But from my research i found, sometime the private university and college will be more better or qualification if compare with accreditation university.

    4. for the example. a man who pursue and sucessful achieve master/ degree form an unaccreditation university will means that he is dumb, loser, or know nothing with the area he/she study?
sometime the canditate from the very good and reputable university they know nothing and labour to other major.

    5. A nation, state or even a small island, which are license , approve or accredited by authorize to operate, confer degree means that degree are valuable. ( i believe, small are easy to control than the other just like singapore)

    6. everybody know the US university have a very good competition. from the unofficial research the US and UK are pioneer than the other national university at leats 10-20 years. with this kind of research. Isn't it means beside the USA and UK university all the other national university are unaccredited ?

    7. as a consultant to degreeinfo and university, i believe these guidline are true after i found this from G-gollin
    i) we have to compare the course with other college
II) we have to know the university are approval to operate.
III) is the courses related to the field you study.
iv) did the university/college really exist.

G-gollin is a fair and honest when giving guidance.

    regards,

    jack tan

Jack -- to be fair and honest you start out with an incorrect premise. You tell us the US DOE once accredited Berne. Please note that the US DOE does not accredit schools. Your best bet is to listen to those that have given a true and fair assessment of Berne and its unrecognized status. As an example, degrees from Berne are illegal to use in the state of Oregon: http://www.osac.state.or.us/oda/unaccredited.html

    They may seek RA

Let us be mindful of the possibility of Berne University relocating from the North East (New Hampshire) or St. Kitts to elsewhere to seek RA. Nothing surprises me anymore. As I stated in another thread, my confidence in RA has been brutally agitated.

No. Under the concept of Generally Accepted Accreditation Principles, universities recognized by their governments tend to be recognized in the U.S. as comparable to our accredited schools. But note the word "Generally." Back-door efforts like Berne get swatted away. For example, the International Handbook of Universities will no longer list Berne. Recognition by St. Kitts and Nevis--despite that tiny island nation's sovereignty.

from this website i hope you do visit before

    http://www.accrediting.com/

List of Saint Kitts and Nevis (section)
    http://www.accrediting.com/saintkittsandnevisuniversities.htm

are list berne university are one of the accredited worldwide university. all the data it show are sponsored by UNESCO.

    Re: berne again

Now, I'm not one to make judgements, but: first, I don't think this organization is recognized as an American accrediting body. And second, I'm pretty sure most of the American schools listed don't know they're listed here. The very first one listed under American schools, Air University, is most definitely NOT accredited by this organization. I imagine the same is true of many of the others.

    Re: They may seek RA

I doubt if application to the New England Association is coming anytime soon. Berne isn't even licensed in New Hampshire. My conversation with their officials revealed their annoyance with Berne, but there doesn't seem to be anything they can do about it. An RA is going to want to see better things than that. Also, Berne was pulled from the USDoE Title IV list, in part, because of financial irregularities. As we know, financial stability is a key component of accreditation.

    Jack:

These things don't mean what you think they mean. Sorry.

This subject has been discussed at great length. I repeated some of the main ideas when responding to you. Please do a search on this site to get the entire picture.

Berne is not licensed. Berne is not accredited. Berne is not recognized internationally. Berne is not approved for financial aid. Berne is not....oh, you get the idea.

Another example, Berne apparently does not even follow their own documented policies and procedures. Specifically, there's been many reports from individuals that they don't really require any residency although their policy indicates otherwise.
