It is a voluntary organization of individuals, schools and companies interested in distance learning. It is not an accreditor! Several "less-than-wonderfull" operations pay the dues to join to give thenselves a cloak of respectability.

Anyone can join, for $125 ($30 for students):Membership

I'm not sure what this is about, but I send e-mail to one of the members who is based out of Texas, we will see what she says....

This organization (usdla) is not recognized by CHEA or US Dept. of Education. It's not listed here.

based on an e-mail with one of the directors, there is some talk about what to do with the less than wonderful institutions that have joined.

Booting them out would be the obvious solution. amolkom68's named 'schools' all fit that category, along with many others that use USDLA membership as a legitimacy ploy.

Sadly, with SRU's penchant for creating spurious official sounding entities, a new USDLA - the United States Distance Learning Alliance, would probably hit the web two days later.
