Richard Hoyer certainly looks like a 'modern' version of Walter Mitty. He also possibly read an early copy of "Catch Me If You Can"? But has probably made more money than Frank!

And Charlie Manson was one happy-go-lucky guy who was great fun at costume parties and masked balls.

Not all mill operators are rich. Are we sure that Hoyer has any money at all?

I'm reminded of Matt Hooker, who, according to his Website, "currently divides his time between California, where is is pursuing creative work as an actor, director, screenwriter, composer, recording artist, songwriter, and producer in the film and music businesses; the East Coast, where he is an entrepreneur and manages some operating companies and internet start-ups; and various international locations in Europe, Asia and South America, where he is involved in international business and consulting, or soon will be." http://www.matthooker.com/index.html#biography You have to keep reading to find his admission of being "penniless". http://www.matthooker.com/boycottnicolekidman.html

And remember the e-mail Hoyer sent to Dr Bear, beginning "Do you get an erection every time you put my name in print?" http://www.degreeinfo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5800 I can't imagine Frank Abagnale saying that. Rich or poor, Hoyer sounds not entirely rational.

I know, from experience, that websites cost money to run, maintain and operate, and with Richard Mitty running an ever increasing number of websites I believe we could assume that he is quite wealthy, and that he is doing it for the money. His book has also sold well, and I'm sure he has made good money from such sales - unlike NZ where we have only four million people and all books are written 'for the love of it', with print runs rarely exceeding 3,000.
His ever increasing number of degree granting establishments
must also be generating very large sums of credit card money!

It's cheap to set up a Website. Some homeless people have them. I understand the Matt Hooker lives in a sleazy men's hostel.

The Copeland Conservatory of Music never made any money. A large number of Website fail to make money, and I'm sure that includes "degree" Websites. Ever heard of the "dot com bust"?

Saddam Insane didn't have a computer - or website - when they caught him, but he had quite a large amount of money! I'm happy to stand by my speculation that Richard Mitty drives the latest Merc and eats out every night. Unlike a penniless duck breeder and gun runner, who still dives a 1990 Ford pick-up! (But does have an impressive website)

New news: Saint Regis, International College of Homeland Security, and Liberia

Saint Regis University, The International College of Homeland Security, and confusion at the Liberian Embassy are in the news today.

See the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle articles 12/21/03 by Steve Orr and Gary Craig:

Online college controversy features a link to Liberia
"The controversy over whether some online learning institutions are disreputable “diploma mills” has even stretched to Liberia — and has connections with an Irondequoit man..." (http://www.democratandchronicle.com/news/1221682NKI5_news.shtml)

    Online college checked further
"New York state officials say they are continuing to investigate the online International College of Homeland Security, which was based in Rochester until ordered to cease operations by the state..." (http://www.democratandchronicle.com/news/1221182NK9O_news.shtml)

The first article includes comments by Richard Novak, "St. Regis’ executive vice chancellor" concerning Richard Hoyer's role in Saint Regis and the National Board of Education (NBOE). The conflicting claims by Aaron Kollie and Abdulah Dunbar to control of the embassy are also mentioned in the story.
