I am brand new to this forum, and would like to ask for some advice. I have worked in international business for a fairly long time, and want to move in university teaching. This year I will start teaching a couple of courses at local schools. I have an MBA and a MA in International Affairs. I can't afford to go to school full time.
I am looking at Case Western Reserve's EDM program, Univ of Maryland-Univ College DM program, and Nova Southeastern's DBA.
I would really welcome any feedback. Thanks.

Top choice - Case Western. It is expensive and selective, but has top faculty. I would have gone there - if they had been in business when I started my graduate work.

UMUC and NSU both have advantages. NSU offers more specialities and works better for students that need flexibility in schedule. They've been around a long while and have a mature program. UMUC looks good - but I think they expect you to live in their area. Also, I believe they are a relative newcomer.

All three programs would work for university teaching - although the programs aren't traditional PhD's and may be looked down on some by academics.

    Regards - Andy

Case Western is one of the top school's in the country, so I am surprised to see it with the other two, accreditation is different as well. You need to ask yourself where you want to teach and that could drive your decision. Also Case Western I remember to be about $40 k per year, so if you can't afford full time, you may want to factor in the expense rate as well.

Good luck. I would also consider European schools. There are several out there, and fully accredited, par time, etc.

I think UMUC program is not DL.

Have you enquired about EDM acceptability for a university teaching position?

If you can afford it, I would, without question, go with Case Western.

Actually, UMUC does have distance learning. I am going to <hopefully> be getting my MS in Bioinfromatics from there...They are the only DL school in the country that offers it:

Here is the online education link:

Inexpensive, and looks to be a solid program based on both accreditation and core classes. I wouldn't count it out.
