Old news, Russell, see other posts relating to Bethany. Actually, Affiliate Status really does not mean a great deal but it is a good first step.

Thank you, Alan. It seems I missed that little discussion which was discussed. ;)

Russell, in reviewing this post I see I was somewhat flippant and terse. I didn't intend to come across as such.:) :)

Well, I guess this is very clear on the AABC website.
"In general, Bible colleges require a minimum of the Master of Theology (Th.M.) degree for full time Bible/theology faculty members. The Master of Divinity degree is a professional degree which is not normally regarded as sufficient academic preparation for postsecondary teaching in core Bible/theology disciplines; in some cases, the M.Div. may be considered appropriate academic preparation for faculty teaching courses in ministry practice."

Sorry, currently so many related Bethany threads I posted this on the wrong one. This one relates to the Survey, and the one about H. D. Shuemake :D

Am sure Bethany appreciates all the free publicity. Now, Alan, yes, Bethany will have to make major changes if they continue to pursue accreditation. They know this. Remember when ACCS (FKA ABCS) was the University of Biblical Studies? There is no way they would have received accreditation then. Their catalogs and brochures were of poor quality and very amateurish. And if I remember correctly, many of the faculty held unaccredited degrees and some were not qualified to teach the subjects they did. UBS was considered a mill by many. They cleaned up their act, made the major changes and today ACCS is a well-respected, accredited school with an excellent program.

    Bethany and AABC "affiliation"

Even if Bethany of Dothan, Alabama applies for and is granted accreditation by AABC, wouldn't that be just for their undergrad programs? I was under the impression that AABC only provides accreditation at that and not the masters or doctoral levels.

Yes, that is true. Presently AABC is thinking about getting into accrediting grad programs. See http://www.gospelcom.net/aabc/Proposed%20Criteria.pdf

Jimmy, I don't imagine that the kind of publicity Bethany receives on this forum is what they want.:p
Also, your post for H. D. Shuemake sure caused a stir here, didn't it! :D

I was unable for tech reasons (web site not responding) to post on the other Bethany thread. Please refer to the other thread to follow the gravamen of this post.

Observe what Chancellor Shuemake says in his imported post:

"You do not know what is in the minds of Bethany's directors. Sure, there are always things that have to be changed to appease the accrediting association. Adjustments have to be made here and there. So what?"

This rhetorical style is commonly found among proprietors of less-than-wonderful schools, who become angry when their motives or track records are questioned. It is difficult to see how Chancellor Shuemake can make a serious attempt to gain genuine accreditation when he talks about "appeasing" the accreditor. He blasts Mr Easton for not knowing what is in the minds of Bethany's directors. Such knowledge is unnecessary. Knowledge of the sad track record of this school and of those who assiduously promote it in every conceivable venue will suffice.
