It seems that Dr. Gonzalez is also full time with Nova:

"Dr. Gonzalez is a full-time online instructional technologist/faculty trainer at Nova Southeastern University and she has been teaching at the university level since 1998 both onsite and online"

However, she seems to have an accredited master's degree.

    TC&U

While I am sure that this is not the first time someone has found teachers working with sub par doctorates you have to admit that in a very small way it questions the myth that an unaccredited degree will disqualify you from teaching.

As you can see, the school obviously found other mitigating factors that allowed them to overlook the dubious academic credentials of the sub par degrees. I am sure that some of these faculty members could teach circles around some RA doctoral recipients merely due to experience in a chosen field.

More importantly, HOW do you guys find these things out??????

When I see a question about a mill suspect, I search the school name. Scan through the irrelevant. See a .edu address and bingo.

However one may view legitimate unaccredited schools, it does the least among them no service at all in elevating a diploma mill like TC&U into their midst.

Besides, TC&U has always claimed to be accredited.

    Hello All,
Yes, but in addition the guy has 9 different IT credentials to go along with over 15 years experience.

There are quite a few people with worthless degrees from worthless "universities " that have prominent teaching positions within RA universities.

There are very few people teaching at R/A schools on the basis of a worthless degree. Some top up an accredited masters with a horsecrap doctorate.

It's a shame that people who could waltz through an accredited graduate program choose a mill.

Ms. Gonzalez has no association with SCIS at Nova

Although it was stated in Kaplan faculty page that "she has taught courses in expert systems, artificial intelligence, computer networks, programming languages, and more", I am confidently saying that Ms. Gonzalez is neither a tenured faculty member nor an adjunct faculty member at the School of Computer and Information Sciences. I became a Nova student in 1997 and graduated in 2003 and have never heard about her. Her claim is definitely bogus. SCIS full-time and adjunct faculty lists can be viewed here.

    Ike,

You are correct that Zahira is not part of SCIS. She appears to be staff that provides support to faculty in online technology -- such as WebCT.

    See these links:

    http://www.undergrad.nova.edu/online/faculty_res.cfm

    http://www.nova.edu/cwis/oit/izone/devteam.html

She is also listed in the admin, faculty, and staff of AIU as of August, 2003. But they do not have her unaccredited Ph.D. listed.

The reporter who broke the story of Laura Callahan at Homeland Security and her fake degrees writes for Government Computer News, which is owned by the Washington Post, which also owns Kaplan College. I've referred him,Wilson Dizard, to RFValve's posting. He may be intrigued, or may wish to stay away from his own employer's problem, or may have no interest. One never knows.

Thanks for the info. Yes she is a WebCT trainer at Nova. She is not a faculty member at Nova but she has RA master's degree. It appears that AIU refused to recognize her unaccredited doctorate.
