Here's what the California Board of Psychology has to say about the CA-approved psych schools.

It's interesting to see that the Psych Board appears distinctly underwhelmed with these schools.

It's also interesting to note that the current law freezes the number of CA-approved schools whose graduates are eligible for licensure at those existing in 1999. It's no longer possible to create new licensure qualifying state-approved psych schools and at the current time, the board points out, the number of CA-approved psych schools can only decrease.

Thanks for this, Bill. One of the refreshing things about this matter is that they unaccredited schools are required to put the length disclosure statement in their literature in "14-point bold type." Seems a small thing, but it is the first time I've seen size specified. Hawaii, and others, have specified "bold type" but without an exact size, leading to things like (I'm using the small size available here, but it should be about half this size) WE'RE NO GOOD

This just goes to underline the discussions already focused on what is meant by the utility of unaccredited degrees.

Just out of curiosity, I wrote the California Graduate Institute to get information on their Psy. D. and Ph.D. (not because I want one, I just wanted to see what they had to say). They allege the second highest pass rate of all schools (not just state approved) in the state. Inlcuded in this they argue they have higher pass rates than USC and UCLA and that they have exceptional pass rates for the marrage and family therapist license also.
