Officials in Tennessee who are looking into the credentials of therecently-deposed president of the University of Tennessee are interested in his apparent affiliation with New York College, which appears to be a degree-granting school in the Czech Republic and in Greece and possibly Albania, which has affiliations with several RA universities in the US (e.g., Empire State).

I had not heard of New York College before. The website (http://www.nyc.gr/) looks quite respectable, at first glance. I can't figure out why I have a feeling that a further look might be a good thing . . . but I also wonder if anyone else here is familiar with this institution, and might have comments.

(The Chronicle of Higher Education reported in much detail the resignation, "in disgrace" of President Shumaker in September, "amid well-publicized allegations of financial and ethical improprieties. His alleged sins include nepotism, cronyism, and conflicts of interest; fraud, greed, and fiduciary failings; lapses of judgment and breaches of the law." But no mention of New York College.)

    Thanks.
