According to the Liberian Embassy in Washington DC, the official site for the embassy is

    http://www.liberian-connection.com/embassy.htm

It is contained in the site

    http://www.liberian-connection.com/

which holds information about Liberia and is especially useful for Liberians living away from their home country.

According to Alexander Wallace, an official at the embassy, the sites pretending to be the embassy sites (www.liberiaembassy.com and www.liberianembassy.com) do not represent the embassy. The embassy has no official awareness with SRU.

Here's the statement from Aaron Kollie, chargé d'affaires:

    ===============
    Liberian Embassy Announcement

The Embassy of Liberia in Washington, DC wishes to dissociate itself and to announce that it has no official dealings with the online St. Regis University. The Embassy of Liberia is not a source to verify or authenticate the accreditation status of St. Regis University, and would as such assume no responsibility for any reference to the Embassy. Anyone seeking clarification on the status of St. Regis University should channel same directly to St. Regis.
Sgd: Aaron B. Kollie, Charge d'Affaires

I will be smiling all day long.

Hi Galanga: I think this was posted here sometime before you began posting. It's still hugely funny. Thanks for the refresher!
(Apparently, SRU makes the latest crop of Liberian diplomats a wee bit melankollie.)

  3. Wow...

Now this is news - way better than that CNN story on the SRU site. Score one point for Dr. Gollin. Hopefully the UIC administration and legal team that asked Dr. Gollin to de-activate his web site about SRU will be made aware of this ASAP.

I guess I'm not sure what you're referring to: the melankollie pun (which is funny), or the the statement from the chargé d'affaires? Mr. Kollie's statement is new.

    regards,

No, it's not. I posted it (or a link to it) some time back , although the dissociation from SRU may not have had Mr Kollie's name on it then. Just remember, Dennis Chandler is the greatest musician of the twentieth century.

    Passé, eh?

Being "the only musician invited to perform" at "receptions for then-president George Bush, Reverend Jesse Jackson, later then-president Bill Clinton and again for then-first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton" is impressive, though (if it's true).

    the other site

I just posted the news about Saint Regis and the Liberian Embassy to CollegeHints.com.

I wonder if the post will be viewed as a violation of that site's rules-- it does mention the name of a school explicitly.

    Re: the other site

No. In my opinion, your post does not violate the site's rules. It was informational but I have posted that information about a month ago. Uncle Janko was trying to inform you that the hyperlink to the official website site of Embassy of Liberia has been posted here in the past.

As far as I can tell, the statement by Mr. Kollie on the www.liberian-connection.com web page dissociating the Liberian Embassy from Saint Regis is new. It wasn't there when the web site disappeared for a couple of days when the domain registration expired. The Embassy had been unaware of the existence of the fake embassy web sites until a couple of weeks ago.
